Frequently Asked Questions

My standard rate for an individual session is $140 and $160 for a couple session. All sessions last 50-55 minutes unless we determine otherwise. All sliding scale spots are currently full. 

• I do not accept insurance at this time. I do my best to offer affordable services to those who cannot afford the full fee when I can. I can also provide additional referrals for you if you cannot pay my rate.
• You may have Out of Network mental health coverage through your insurance. If this is the case, your insurance company may reimburse you with a provided "superbill." This is dependent on your insurance company and you will need to contact them for more information about your specific plan. 

• Contact Kristen McMath via email (kristen@local-therapy.com) or phone by calling or texting  (512-861-0489) at Local Therapy for a 10-15 minute free consultation. Consultations are useful so the therapist can learn more about you and what brings you to therapy, and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions that you have. 
• If the therapist feels your needs match their scope of practice and specialities, and it feels like a good fit for both you and the therapist, you can set up an intake session during the consultation call. 
• All paperwork and payments are processed through the client health records and portal system TherapyNotes, LLC.

• Ideally, we will meet weekly in the beginning to set goals and build a trusting therapeutic relationship. Some people meet their goals after 3-6 months and feel ready to take things on without therapy, while others attend for longer if they find it helpful, need extra support, or have new goals! We will regularly assess your goals and progress. I believe you have the inner wisdom to know what's best for you, but I am always here to guide and lead these conversations.
• The goal is to gradually reduce the frequency of sessions as you begin to meet your goals and feel more confident in your ability to use the tools and skills you learn in therapy!

• I am available for both in-person and teletherapy.

•  Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, the “No Surprises Act,” you have a right to receive a “good faith estimate” explaining how much your therapy services will cost.
